The Westin is located in the CBD in Martin Place—a neat combination of an historic building and modern tower, enclosed by a glass atrium ceiling with an urban rain forest of hotel facilities, restaurants, shops and even a post office.
Rooms have blonde wood furnishings that seemed similar to other rooms or a lower-rung of Starwood’s fleet of hotels. The bed—Westin’s Heavenly Bed–is good for jet-lagged bodies that need a rest. The bathroom earned points for the glass wall looking into the room. The sink and counter have ample space for two people to place their vanity kits and makeup bags without a silent tussle over counter space. The rain shower and bathroom rested in separate glass compartments. The Westin bath amenities work with even my fussy hair, which I appreciated. Baby liked the bath.
- Great location: Overall, the location in the central business district has you in walking distance of all of Sydney’s main sites. A 5k along Sydney harbor, around the Opera House perhaps? A walk among the Rocks district, Sydney’s oldest? A trip to the Australian museum? Or the Hyde Park barracks?
- Good concierge service: The concierge provided good recommendations on places to eat nearby and scored us reservations at one of Sydney’s most awarded restaurants.
- Bentley airport transfer: Through the valet staff we scored a return trip to the airport in a Bentley at the same price of what a taxi would have cost.
